Air quality in Ankara (14)
The Air Quality isn’t at his best these days in Ankara. January/Febuary is normally the worst time of the year.
The head of the Chamber of Environmental Engineers of Turkey said earlier this month that the district of Ankara with the most polluted air was Sıhhiye.

The main cause of air pollution in the Turkish capital is the use of low-quality coal for transportation and heating. (Read the entire article here)

We had a week of bad air quality in the beginning of January. This week isn’t as bad but today in the afternoon the AIQ was red again. The air quality index (AQI) is a number used by government agencies to communicate to the public how polluted the air currently is or how polluted it is forecast to become. (Source)

I use an App to know the air quality in order to decide if it’s a good time or not to go jogging or go play at the park with the kids. It uses the AQI index.

Here’s a link to the AQI index page for our neighborhood (Dikmen is the closest)

If you want an App that gives your the Air Quality Index, look for AQI in the Appstore. On Android I use Air IQA.
