Tricks for using Google Translate

Google Translate is an essential tool for our daily communications with Turkish people.  It can be great, but it can also be terrible…

Sometimes it gives a translation that means something else, mostly due to the structure of the Turkish language, which is very different from English.

A good trick to make sure that you say the right thing is to use the reverse translation option.

After translating, click on reverse translate.

You will see if the Turkish translation means what you want to say or not.

Tricks that worked for me :

  • Short sentences
  • 1 subject / object per sentence
  • 1 verb per sentence

Keep it simple! 🙂

One more thing I do all the time it using the microphone icon to talk and get real time translation. It works both ways. Try it!
